A large amount of riders gathered on a sunny but cold Sunday morning to compete in the Ixion charity trial with all proceedings going to the MIND organisation.
This year we raised in excess of 500 quid with many thanks to all and especially the raffle girls who took over one hundred pounds.
Four laps of ten testing sections were plotted to be ridden four times and there was a lot of water about during this period of drought and hosepipe bans.
In the Expert class Michael Johnson 250 Montesa claimed top spot losing seven although 4 perfect rides were recorded at section ten a tough cambered bank turning over tree roots as the day progressed water was drawn up the bank by the white route riders hitting it from a different angle.
On the the standard white route Alan Taylor had to work hard to stay ahead of the proceedings losing 33 section two was Alan's bogey section today with a couple fives and a two but it was a tricky one with a deepish pond at the begins which immediately took water over a big fallen bough and made for an exiting sub for observer Pete Wickham.
Dave Morris 300 Jotagas was over from the Western Centre and put in good rides at section 5 a really good blast up a muddy bank after exiting a swollen stream.
Peter Hampton Bantam 285 took the pre 65 honours on 69 with travelling companion Nick James 250 DOT literally going for an early bath and drowning his motor at the same time at the Everglades section 3.
Many Blue route riders contended this eased course and all they have to do is keep Kevin McCullagh who has been competing for well over fifty years in there sights and pounce on that mistake but once again it never came as KP only had a miserly dab at section nine first lap a soft loamy affair with a turn down to a ponds edge before easing gently back out onto dry land.
Derek 'Doddy' Dodd was his closest rival on six with Grasstracker Steve Dowling putting a fantastic ride in on the ageing Ty 175.
