Report by Ken O'Brien

49 riders attempted 4 laps of 10 sections at ixions 3rd club round on their new piece of land ' Common Field Clumps', It was mainly woodland but also included 2 very deep muddy slots,Liam O'Reilly ran out a comfortable winner in the expert class which included 2 brilliant cleans on sec. 3 an 80 yard natural stream bed that dug out quite badly as the day progressed.

On the popular 50/50 route Mark Elms 250 Scorpa rode with consistencey all day to record a fairly low score of 13,

Ever improving Mark Howkins rode his beta to a Novice class victory losing 47 on the way.

In the clubman class pre race favourite Nigel Tompkins on a rare visit to Oxford from the Western Centre had to take an early bath after putting a headbutt on one of our proected species trees which left ex classic scrambles star Jim Parker a much easier task for victory, Jim had a superb ride in this well supported class parting with a miserly 15 eight of which were lost on sec. 9 without doubt the hardest section of the day ' Axfords ' it consisted of a steepish drop into a stream with several sandstone steps, If you made it to the top there was a third gear blast through virtually bottomless mud to the ends 40 yards up the bank.

Oxford regular Alan Taylor 350 BSA was also in good form to take the pre 65 class unchallanged.

A scattering of Twinshocks on show today with Ken O'Brien ' Bliss Cotswold ' showing Rabbit Allen TLR 200 the way to go again !

On the blue eased route 16 riders were on parade today and K P McCullagh did the business again, Montesa mounted Justin Heaven nearly had his prayers answered but had to settle for runner up spot to KP this time.
