Surely the FA cup final didn't affect this entry did it ! Anyway a fair entry of riders of all abilities turned out to contest four laps of ten at our Steeple Hill Bank venue notorious for an amount of mud whatever the weather,
Mark Elms 250 Scorpa took the 50/50 class losing 43 marks 12 of which went astray on section 5 a relativley simple looking hazard, A stream crossing six times but as the silt built the rising water became a problem with the modern kit (pre 65 and twinshocks no problem).
On the alternative route in the clubman class 4T sherco mounted Martin Wilmore waltzed it, Eight was his tally, He was good on sub 6 a long section with many hazards obviously mud and roots included.
Young Scott Faulkner riding a George Greenland prepared Tigercub equalled Wilmores total which included a faultless peformance on tom mitsons section 7, A hard one, A rake of tree roots and soft turns in what can only be described as peat bogs.
A youthful looking Ken O'Brien aced the Twinshock class on his superb Jon Bliss built Cotswold whilst Youth B runner and ever improving Ed Dain kept going all day to take this class in his own time.
No less than 14 men and boys threw down the gauntlet on the eased Blue route but the money was on K P McCullagh an odds favourite anti post, There was no sympathy 8 lost with 43 as runner up.
