The going was tough at Common Field Clumps as relentless rain sheeted down all day for this the penultimate round of the 2009 club champs.

Four laps of ten were covered with all but a few battling it out to the bitter end and Expert Sean McCullagh was top dog in this class with a superb clean on section nine a bottomless turn with a very deep and narrow gully to cross several times.

Sam Cherry continues to improve with a slender one point margin over seasoned veteran Andy Perry in the Novice class on the alternative route Sam sliding the 315 mont feet up on the slick downhill turns of ' Teeny Smiths ' sub four.

Section Eight was observered by Bill Faulkner of BSA fame from the day and was heard shouting advice to many riders things like " get your finger off that ****** clutch this is a swamp crossing not a rock section ".

Young Ben Hayes didn't quite manage to keep his tally under 100 but still made maximum club points and must be in with a squeak for the title this year of best Youth B.

A good amount of ageing Clubman were allowed out today with Gas Gas mounted Adrian Steele getting the better of James Fletcher,Steele making the twisting rocky turns of section two look easy prodding only once after four visits.

On the Blue arguably Easy route Chris Joyner blasted around in record time for a loss of 96 just heading off Guy Mansfield on his trusty Bultaco.

A good old fashioned muddy trial was enjoyed by all including the Ten observers.
