Report Ken O'Brien

Persistent heavy overnight rain made for tough going at Steeple Hill Bank as 50 plus riders tackled Ten fairly straight forward sections to the eye four times.
Best Expert was Ian Watts guiding his 290 Beta around for a loss of 20 of which 12 went astray on section nine a particularly stiff task as grip was at a minimum before attempting a four foot rooted step.Darren Walters took the best Inter with a good performance being posted on on section eight a drop into bog culminating with a left handed turn up over a super slick bank.
On the Standard white route Alan Taylor 250 Scorpa pipped young Ben Wilmore on a tiebreak after returning with 13 a piece on their cards in the Clubman class.
Fellow clubman Ady Mathews put the only faultless performance in on section four an eighty yard uphill blast though marshland and as expected this sub deteriorated into a right mud bath  but was good to watch.
Also worth a mention is Bob Gent who was visiting down from the north of England and brought his little Fantic 156 along for a days sport and had some good rides in the Oxfordshire mud but sorry there were no rocks for you Bob.
John Langston took best Novice after a battle with Kevin Miller and a four point margin was the end result although Miller put in some good rides on section three a new sub that looked easier than it rode as water dragged up over a lace of roots.
Charlie Langston posted a very respectable score of 21 to ace the Youth B and looks on target for championship honours after three rounds.
Rob Faulkner 250 BSA piloted his mount around for a miserly 21 and gained maximum points in the Pre 65 with good rides on section 2 a left handed loose camber rising to the brow with a slippy descent to negotiate.
On the Blue eased route Paul Wickson blasted his ageing Ty 250 Pinky around with a loss of 36 whilst ex Grasstracker Steve Dowling could be heard many fields away ringing the neck of his TY 175.
A good day was had by all and it was Easter Eggs all around for the ten observers.
