The preceding week was very wet but on the day Nephelae was kind as many riders set off for the annual Ivan Davis cup trial promoted by Oxford Ixion Mcc.The course was plotted on the easy side as the Cup up for grabs is awarded to the best adult performance on the standard route.

This event also included a round of the South Midland Centre Youth Championships and

Four laps of ten were taken in.

In the Expert class Joel Mitson was literally in a class of his own with a crushing victory losing two marks all day one of which went astray on section 6 dropping into a left hand boggy turn before blasting to the crest of the hill and then a tricky right and left hand turn over roots.

Youth A winner was Jason North from Berko who incidentally posted the second best score on the hard route today although Jason lost eleven of these on section 7 a really tough old fashioned mudbath of a sub (Persil Mum Required).

The Standard white route saw Youth B rider Bob Devereux take the spoils in this class on seven a point in front of Greg Speed

At the end of play it was impossible to separate Robert Faulkner TY 250 and Adrian Steele 300 Gas Gas so a joint win was awarded for the Ivan Davis.

Best clubman went to Alan Taylor on two who excelled on the long slick climb of section three the only fourth gear blast of the day.

The Pre 65 pot goes to Ken O'Brien 250 Cotton although Nick James 250 Banvil did think he had won as he'd scored more points than Ken.

The Blue eased version of the course included Youth C and best today was Oscar Bosak who piloted his Beta 80 around for a creditable 54.

Veteran Paul Wickson shed only four today to win the class being caught out for a two on sub nine an 8 metre rooted crossing.
