The weather was cold but sunny and the sections were verging on the slick side at Cox's farm where four laps of eleven fairly testing subs were tackled.
The Norton Trophy is awarded to the best performance on the hard route on a Pre 65 machine.
This accolade went to Alan Taylor piloting his very standard Triumph Tigercub around for ten marks lost.
Alan keeping his feet firmly on the pegs though-out his four visits to section two a rutted descent to an old oak tree with a deep muddy turn and two fallen boughs to negotiate before exiting through a 20 yard slot.
Brian Ayres 175 Bantam was best Two Stroke with steady rides on section one a downward spiral of sandy mud before levelling off to attack a lace of roots probably the toughest sub of the day.
Hux raider Tim Blackmore travelled over today from London and went home a happy chappy taking with him the Twinshock award.
If we had run a concourse this afternoon then Tim would have won it with his beautifully turned out TLR 250.
Invited modern bike club members were about and john Langston was the man to beat as he recorded a score of eight with a two mark margin over Jason Fletcher.
A very accomplished ride by Barry Ward saw him take the Trail bike class by storm making mincemeat of Jim Axfords sub eight a very steep slick climb with a turn at the halfway point and then more of the wet stuff to blast though.
Two routes were plotted today and the slightly easier Blue route was a resounding success with Paul Wickson 250 Greeves at the top of his game going clean all day although he had to work hard for it as Arthur Tomkinson 197 Greeves was on his tail all day. Arthur dabbed once today way over in Roberts Copse on the loamy turns this sub is notorious for.
Best Pre-unit went to Tony Sulivan 500 Triumph Sully at his best on the long hills of sections nine and ten were the where the Big Triumph could be heard ripping to the summit from far down in the woods.
Best Youth was James Saunders losing twenty three marks with sister Izzy a little further down the list whilst dad Steve had his work cut out chasing them around the two mile circuit.
Another clean ride came from Kevin McCullagh 4RT but Talk of the Town was ex Grasstracker Steve Dowling who was heard wringing the neck of his little TY175 at every sub and when the cards were returned Steve was a miserly one dab this was a quality ride.
A special mention and thanks to all eleven volunteer observers we can't run without you and everyone gets a bottle cheers.
