Standlake wood saw motorcycles for the first time ever last weekend as Oxford Ixion ran it's fourth round club trial with a good entry of fifty plus riders. Ten sections were plotted to be ridden four times.
The going today was a mixture of very steep banks loamy turns over roots loose gravely cambers and subs that skirted many swampy areas.
The best expert was Michael Johnson who has switched to four-stroke power recently and is adapting his riding style well to suit. Michael lost seven today all at sub eight consisting an almost vertical drop before turning up over a fallen tree on a camber and once over this hazard a loose sandy climb to the observer before dropping again to a wall of death turn to the exit.Only Youth A rider Ben Hayes cleaned this virtual stopper on the third lap all others had to wait until their final attempt.

On the standard white route Stefan Walters piloted the 200 Fantic around this Turn-of-the-Century disused Gravel pit with ease and returned a clean sheet.
On more modern machinery Alan Taylor Scorpa 250 took best Clubman with two prods both at section five a fairly tricky one with a very soft boggy turn before nailing it up to the brow of a sandy bank and dropping to turn over freshly cut lumber.
Jon 'Cotswold 4RT' Bliss had a mixed day losing eleven but cleaning all subs on offer today at some stage.
Best Youth B was Martin Hayes who had good rides at section ten awkward cambers with a quagmire crossing.
The Blue eased route saw another clean sheet and this belonged to Kevin McCullagh 4RT although Tony Sulivan BSA C15 was a close second on one mark lost.
Alex Ross put in some good rides on the big Royal Enfield the the day didn't start off well though with Electrical gremlins but the pit crew soon had the big thumper up and running after stumbling across a whiskered plug.
Alex went on to record a  fifth place finish shedding just seven marks.
Many thanks to the new land owner James for the use of.
